An integrated approach for modeling and identification of perfusion bioreactors via basis flux modes

This paper discusses the challenges associated with reliable and optimal operation of perfusion bioreactors presents methods for modeling identification as well vision their integration. After presenting a generic model bioreactors, shows how to use concept basis flux modes uniquely compute reaction rates. The advantage this respect elementary nodes similar concepts in metabolic analysis is reduced number that need be modeled. In addition, procedure identify estimate parameters each using Monod-type kinetics presented. It shown rational structure these kinetic models results optimization problems are amenable tractable computation globally parameter estimates. illustrated via examples simulated or experimental data.
